Film School

Let professional script writer, Elizabeth O’Connor, teach you the ins and outs of story telling via film. Then develop skills in capturing digital video and editing film footage to create a short film using Movie Maker. This Horizons programme is a collaboration between South Learning Centre, The School for Young Writers and has been partially funded by the Belladonna Film Trust.

*This is a collaborative course and participants must be able to attend on a continuous basis to ensure film completion as per schedule below.

Literacy Extension: Book Wizards 3D

Develop confidence and a positive attitude towards reading. Use Movie Maker to create an electronic book containing 3D elements to be shared with others.

Amazing Virtual Race

Take a virtual race around the globe and explore a range of global issues facing our planet. Then build your own interactive PowerPoint along similar lines to be shared virtually with your classmates.

Animated Stories

“Santa Claus is coming to town…” That’s right, Christmas is almost upon us so why not come down to the Learning Centre and create your own animated Christmas story using Photostory 3 or PowerPoint.

Web School Using 2.0 Tools

Not sure what Web 2.0 is? Learn how to use a variety of Web 2.0 tools to enhance your learning including: Wikis, Blogs, Social book marking and photo-sharing tools.
